Monochloroacetic acid warts

Genotyping of 23 wart-associated HPV types was performed using the hyperkeratotic skin lesion-polymerase chain reaction/multiplex genotyping assay. The results were correlated with a favourable response to treatment with monochloroacetic acid, cryotherapy or a combination of cryotherapy and salicylic acid.

My mainstay treatment is monochloroacetic acid and I like it because it destroys the wart. Monochloroacetic acid works directly as a chemo-surgical agent to destroy tissue. Even though it is destroying tissue, the amount of scarring is minimal compared to other forms of therapy in terms of surgery.

In low concentrations, up to 10% trichloroacetic acid can be processed in petroleum jelly. In high concentrations (e.g. 90%) A mixture of 9 d trichloroacetic acid and 1 D water shall be prepared.
HISTORY: Trichloroacetic acid was discovered by Jean-Baptiste Dumas in 1839. Since it's discovery, it has been widely used in biochemistry. TCA is often used in cosmetic treatments such as chemical peels and tattoo removal, and as topical medication for chemoablation of warts and skin cancer.
Cryotherapy and salicylic acid (SA) often fail as treatments for skin warts. We examined the effectiveness of monochloroacetic acid (MCA) for patients with common or plantar warts. Consecutive patients aged 4 years and older with one or more newly diagnosed common or plantar warts were recruited in 53 Dutch general practices.

Chloroacetic acid (CAA, monochloroacetic acid, MCAA) is a halogenated aliphatic carboxylic acid generally used as herbicide and preservative. Its mutagenic effects have been studied in Rattus norvegicus. The rate of degradation of MCA by photocatalysis using TiO 2 at pH 3 is reported to be enhanced under the influence of ozone. It is an irritant that hydrolyzes proteins resulting in degradation ...
