The principal duty of the Clerk of Courts Title Department is to issue titles for motor vehicles and watercraft. Additional responsibilities include issuing copies of titles, duplicates, notations of liens on vehicles/watercraft, collecting the associated sales tax on transactions and remitting the monies to the State of Ohio.

The Office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court is responsible for maintaining a record of all traffic, civil, and criminal cases filed and heard in Will County. On a daily basis, the office interacts with the public and attorneys performing several functions including the collection and disbursement of traffic fines, civil fees and child support.

Bring the original inspection slip and original out-of-state title to the Delaware County Clerk of Courts Title Division to obtain an Ohio title. Also, please bring your Ohio driver’s license and proof of Ohio residency. We will issue an Ohio title that you can present to the BMV to obtain Ohio license plates and registration. The cost for an Ohio Title conversion is $18.50.

If the title is not already in the current owner's name, the vehicle must be titled within 30 days of the assignment date, or a $5.00 late fee will be assessed [ See ORC 4505.06 (A) (6) ].
