Checked the timing, i have a dot is my first mark then a line that comes round which is TDC on the crank through the inspection hole. My problem is which ever mark i use the points heel is to far away from the cam,i run out of adjustment on the base plate,even wen i move the points cam for the advance.Its defiantly on compression stroke.

Mar 08, 2011 · Timing the cams is done like this..... You place the mark on the pinion gear at approx 11 o'clock position by rotating the engine. Then insert the 4 cams aligning the marks as you go. DO NOT try to place the timing mark on the flywheel in the center of the hole. He timing mark is used only for timing the oil breather (if you have removed the oil pump) and timing the ignition.
